I’ve just landed back in Los Angeles after a lovely holiday break seeing my family and friends, along with a productive work stint in Sydney.
If there’s one thing I love more than the warm sunshine in Los Angeles, it’s the food scene here. Everyone who knows me knows how much I enjoy a soul nourishing meal at a downtown cafe, or visiting a favourite restaurant on the weekends with Dean or friends.
Although I love to prepare my own meals at home (check out the JSHealth App for recipes you can whip up in your own kitchen!), it’s also a part of my balanced lifestyle to dine out and experience everything a city has to offer.
I’m sharing my LA foodie favourites, from quick bites to sit-down meals, hoping they inspire you to try something new and delicious for your next meal out.
Love,
Jess x
Juice and Smoothie Bars
When I’m out and about, nothing beats a refreshing smoothie. My go-to spots include Earth Bar and Erewhon. The Almond Butter Smoothie from Erewhon is a must-try!
Cafes
LA is home to some fantastic cafes, but these three are my absolute favourites…
Sweetgreen – I love that you can make your own salad here. It’s my daily lunch spot!
Urth Caffé – Their Greek salad is so delicious.
Carla Cafe – Their chopped chicken/tuna salad is YUM. Trust me, this’ll be your next go-to!
Restaurants
For dining out, I love variety – from trendy eateries to cosy neighbourhood gems. My top picks are…
Violet LA – It’s chic and trendy. The ambiance is just as impressive as their menu.
Funke – This place is always buzzing. It’s also on my list for cocktail bars!
Felix Trattoria – A must-visit for pasta lovers.
Taverna Tony – Their bread is heavenly, and their Greek dishes are divine.
For the best sushi, I recommend Sugar Fish, Sushi Park, and Matsuhisa.
For Italian, you can’t go wrong with Toscana or Il Pastaio.
Groceries
When it comes to my weekly grocery shopping, here’s where I usually go…
Erewhon – It’s fancy, but a health dream come true.
Trader Joe’s – Perfect for your everyday needs.
Sprouts – My go-to for everything fresh, natural and organic.
Whole Foods – Of course, who doesn’t love Whole Foods?
Cocktail Bars
It’s also a part of my balanced lifestyle to enjoy a glass of wine or a well-crafted cocktail, in moderation! Here are some of my favourite spots…
Funke – Yes, it’s on this list again, but for good reason!
Wally’s Wine Bar – A great selection of wines and cocktails.
Sunset Towers – The view is as good as their drinks.
The Peninsula Hotel Bar – A classy spot for a nightcap.
And if you’re looking for a cute spot with delicious cocktails and beautiful piano playing, check out The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, I hope my list helps you find your next favourite place to eat or drink in Los Angeles. Enjoy!
